Intestamine^® provides an exclusive blend of the amino acids glutamine and glucosamine along with fructooligiosaccharides and fibre. The source of fibre, Acacia fibre, is derived from Acacia senegal, a thorny tree native to Africa and India. Fibre has numerous beneficial effects on the body. Acacia fibre is a soluble, non-bulking agent which can be fermented by the microflora to acetic, propionic and butyric short-chain fatty acids. These short-chain fatty acids may act as an energy source to the existing microbiotia present in the small intestine. Unlike Acacia fibre, NutraFlora^® FOS has the ability to pass through the small intestine into the colon without being digested or altered in any way.
